Norton Oakes Cricket Club – Sheffield

Norton Oakes Cricket Club in Sheffield was officially founded in 1877 but research suggests cricket could well have been played as early as 1854. Mr Francis Westby Bagshawe Esq.  founded the club for the benefit of the tenants and employees on his estate in Oakes Park.

The grounds of Oakes Park contain many well established oak trees, a notable feature of the cricket ground is a large oak tree in the outfield.
